I wanted to post real quick and thank you all for your comments the other day.

Whew! lol, now I don't feel so bad about all my projects. It's good to know I'm not the only one.

I am definitely hanging on to all the creative, crafty, artsy things I love.
There's just no way I could not do them all.

Besides, it's not like I do them all at once, although I've been known too. lol. I kind of do whatever strikes my fancy at the moment, although digital art remains a steady everyday thing.

Right now I'm working on some big eye projects and will post them as soon as their done. Am in the middle of finishing my first mermaid.

:) K.

Question

Let me ask ya something....

Is it so wrong to have multiple things that you like to do? Is it so wrong to not be able to concentrate on one thing?

I ask this because my husband and I were recently having a conversation about all my "projects". He believes I should pick just one thing and concentrate solely on that, but I have so many things I love to do, so many things that keep me going and distract me when things get a bit tough or we get off track.

For instance, these are the "things" I love to do, want to do, and hope to do some day (soon???):

Digital Art
Painting (although I truly suck at it, but am still trying to learn)
Oil Pastels (I find I can work better with these, really get my hands in there)
Writing (although this one, for the time being, only comes in small spurts)
Sculpting (have done this, but haven't for awhile due to the cost of clay, hope to do it again soon)
Read (I read ALOT!!!)
Web Design (used to do this, love playing around with my sites, although they desperately need to be redone)
Digital Animation (used to do this one, will do it again in the future, love making things come alive)
General Arts & Crafts
Love animals and would love to work with them (this one's just a pipe dream. The schooling to be a vet tech is just not in the cards for me)

There's more, but I can't think at the moment.

What do you think? Is it better to concentrate on just one thing? With my personality (I'm a Sagittarius, if that matters), I tend to start alot of projects, stop, work on one, go back to another, etc.., sometimes certain ones get left in the dust.

How do you know what you're good at if you don't try, right?

I don't know. Any thoughts???

Need a distraction and wanting to learn

In trying to get everything back on track, I realized that I need some down time just for me and I'd love, love, love to take that time and learn how to paint with acrylics.

I can put paint to canvas or paper, but the areas I find the hardest to conquer is shading, blending skintone and light.

Does anyone know if there are any really great books for beginners and or DVDs?

Anything would be welcome.

K.

what day is it???

So, I've been missing for a bit.
Have been working on two art pieces that I can't wait to show you.
Almost done, although it may be another month or so before I'm able to get to them.

I don't know what day it is or my own name anymore. No sleep, no time for myself or to relax. Gone. All gone.

Hubby saw an ad for kittens, would've been ready June 21. The lady emailed us saying they were 4 weeks old and the mother had stopped feeding them, so she asked if we could pick them earlier than expected.

We did. BUT. When we got home and took a good look at them, we jumped online to compare pictures, ages and motor skills. These kittens were just learning to walk and they were not going to the bathroom on their own.

We discovered, OMG!, they are 2 WEEKS OLD, not 4, like she said over and over again! What was this woman thinking.
We realized that the woman just didn't want to deal with them.
When we picked up the kittens, she was super nice, saying "keep in touch", "send me updates and pics".

I tried emailing her twice so far to let her know how their doing and she will not respond at all. That says to me that she didn't care to begin with, because when she was trying to get rid of them and emailing me, she would respond within a matter of minutes or at the very least, a couple of hours.

So, it's been bottle feeding 4 to 5 times day and night, stimulating them to go to the bathroom, showing and helping them to scratch in a makeshift litter box and no time, no time at all.

Ladies, if you've ever thought about having more children, take care of a 1 to 2 week old kitten. lol. It has certainly turned me off. I had forgotten how much work it all is. You have to make sure they burp, bath them (wipe them down, so they're clean), and more.

They are the cutest balls of fur ever, but believe me, I will be so happy when they are eating and going to the bathroom on their own.

All days are running together. Between the kittens, homeschooling the kids, chores, errands, my part time job and whatever else, I can't remember my own name. lol.

Will post again soon.

Kathy :)

lots have been going on, but have been trying to keep myself busy by creating something for a new layout.

I've wanted to work on a big eye piece for awhile now and although her eyes are not that huge and I'm not happy with the forehead (too big??), here she is. I created one of the faces I usually draw and just pulled, pushed and played with the face and body.

No title yet, but ya like her.

Hope everyone is doing alright and feeling fine.

I'm just not myself at the moment, but will post again soon.

Many blessings
Kathy

sorry, it's a little big

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to frame those canvas' you get at the art store?

Can a frame go right over the wood/canvas or do you have to un-staple the canvas itself and then frame?

ty

Still here

Okay, so I said I was going to take a break. I lied. lol.

I can't take a break from art or working on my fairies. I have no idea what to do with myself if I don't constantly have a project going. lol.

So, although my cup is not over flowing with ideas, I'm still hanging around. Was going through my old, old art pieces and am really considering updating or redoing them.

Do ya ever look at your older pieces of art and cringe, possibly think to yourself "what the heck was I thinking" ??? Well, I do and have. lol.

I remember thinking just how great I thought the piece was when I finished it. How that has got to be my best work ever, lol, and now I look back on pieces from 2, 3 and even 4 years ago and think, YUCK! lol. I know, I know, alot of artists do that and we get better as time goes on, but I still sit here cringing and shaking my head. lol.

Not much else going on for the moment. But that could change. You never know around here.

We've all been battling colds, aches, pains, etc. I hate winter. Will be glad when spring arrives.

Hope everyone is alright.
Pixie, HUGE HUGS and my condolences.

Many blessings to all,
Kathy

Taking a break

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile.
It's been really crazy and stressful around here.

To make a long story short, I'm taking a break from art for a while.

Want to concentrate on a few other things for a bit.

I've been trying to keep up with everyone. I'm sorry my comments are few and far between, but I do read your LJs.

Before I lose myself in all the chaos, I need to step back and take a hard look at what I'm supposed to be doing, strengthen and pull myself together for whatever lies ahead.

I know, I know I'm being cryptic, sorry. lol. I just need some spiritual time, some family time with my husband and kids, and some me time, that's all. I'm always here for friends, though. Only an email away. ;)

Hope you are all doing well and feeling fine.

Much love and well wishes to all,

Kathy

Just a small entry

Morning,

Things have been really negatively crazy around here, but we're taking it one day at a time and praying that all turns around and or works out to our advantage.

I've been trying to mentally escape by working on a new fairy. I know I said I was going to slow down on fairies, but with a little help from a friend ;) who sent me my very first pair of what I like to call "fairy socks or fairy stockings", lol, I couldn't help myself.

I believe I might wear these things when needing inspiration. lol.

She is untitled at the moment, but I hope you like her.

Closeup of the wings

Closeup of the dress

Closeup of her face

And I can't remember if I posted this one yet. I finished it a while ago. So if you're seeing this for a second time, I apologize.

It's titled "A little birdy told me" , but I feel that I could probably do more with it. Please ignore my website logo on the side of it.
Hey all,

Happy Monday!...........I think. :)

Not too much going on here. Am working on, yet, another fairy and should be done with her by the end of the week.

Things are the same. Just trying to take one day at a time and see what happens, see where things go. Right now, I'm just so unsure of alot of things and I hate that. lol.

I'm the type of person that likes to know, likes to be, at least, a little sure.

Anyway, I should get back to that fairy.

I hope your week starts out and is a great one for you.

Many Blessings and ((((HUGS))))

Kathy

A new fairy I've been working on all week.
Hey everyone,

Hope your weekend is starting out to be a great one.

Just a couple of updates, as I'm still trying to change everything over to the artsychic site.

Just updated the portfolio section of the site, added all fairies and a few other things that I've drawn over time, although there's quite alot of pieces that need redoing and will eventually be added. Added alot of things to the personal sections of the site. Things I like, more about moi, etc.

Just finished the piece below. Took a long look at her this morning and realized she's a bit crosseyed. lol. And the lines in the rainbow are not nearly as neat as they could be. Don't know why I didn't see all that when I was in the middle of creating her.
Anyway, till I get to or feel like redoing her, here she is. The piece is simply titled Peace. It really has alot to do with who I am, my personality. I enjoy being peaceful, calm, drama-less, you know what I mean? I suppose I drew it because I'm surrounded by drama alot these days and 99.9% of it is not mine or my little family's.

I don't know about her, really. Something is missing and haven't figured out what yet.

Anyway, I'll end here for now, hoping you all are feeling fine and doing okay. Will post again soon.

Kathy :)
